Intro

James’ work has been described as “capturing moments in time that are somehow familiar”. Textures are a big part of the imagery that James amazingly captures and this is evident in the composition he skillfully navigates.

They say the new kid on the block has the latest toys and James is definitely the new kid on the photography block. The latest toys he carries around is a digital collection centering around the Nikon D50.

Definitely an example of the new breed of today’s photographic talent, James Stewart is well on his way towards a rewarding career in the world of images.


Bio

James J. Stewart was born on September 29th, 1988 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. As a child he was always interested in film. At the age of 14, James received his first Hi-8 sharp digital video camera and started filming BMX biking with his friends. He later upgraded to a mini-DV Sony. James then became interested in photography through film. James' first camera was given to him by his parents on Christmas of 2004. Since then, James has experimented on his own within Photography. James began his first year in the full-time Photography course at Nova Scotia Community College in Dartmouth, September 2007 and is to go on to his second year September 2008. His photo bag now consists of a Nikon D50 and D200, Sigma 10-20mm, Nikon 10.5mm fisheye, Nikon 50mm f1.8, Nikon SB-600, Vivitar 285, and 3 pocket wizards. James also carries a 35" umbrella light. James enjoys using natural light as much as possible while photographing any subject. His favorite subjects to photograph are abandoned houses and attractive landscapes. You can always find James taking pictures of people riding BMX. A big influence for James within Photography was Clayton Cole's work. James is currently residing in Stellarton, NS for the summer.
